OnePlus OneWatch

Watch out Moto 360: OnePlus OneWatch incoming!
The current Android Wear smartwatch invasion – headed by the likes of the Moto 360LG GWatch and Samsung’s Gear offerings is set to get a brand new rival in the form of the OnePlus OneWatch, and it may be the most stylish smartwatch we’ve seen so far! Read on for all the details!
OnePlus may not have the cache of Apple or other big manufacturers, but we’ve already seen some impressive gadgets from the company, including the feature-packed OnePlus One smartphone. And now it looks like there’s a OnePlus smartwatch on the way too! If it can cram in half the features offered by the One, OnePlus looks like it could be on to a winner.
The OnePlus OneWatch follows in the footsteps of the Moto 360, as it avoids a square screen and instead opts for a more traditional spherical watch face. According to BGR, the OneWatch will be rocking a sapphire glass front, which helps to protect its OLED panel.
Materials like the sapphire face and titanium edging on the OneWatch smartwatch should help to give it a premium feel, while it also packs in innovations like a curved battery that’s hidden away inside the leather strap on the watch. Although on the downside, that could mean it may be tricky to source replacement straps in the future, especially if you’re hoping to keep the OneWatch for a long time.
Whether the OneWatch will run Android Wear, like many recent smartwatches, remains to be seen, especially as the OnePlus One smartphone packed in Cyanogenmod (a tweaked version of Android) for its OS, as OnePlus isn’t exactly known for taking the conventional route.
Either way, we’ve got our fingers crossed that the OneWatch follows in the One’s tracks when it comes to pricing; despite packing in some truly high-end features, including a 1080p screen, 13-megapixel camera and 3GB of RAM, the smartphone still retailed for a wallet-friendly £229. We’d love it if the OneWatch was similarly well priced too.
Still, there’s currently no word on a release date on pricing, but stay tuned as we’ll bring you more details on the OnePlus OneWatch as soon as the company reveals more.
