Apple accidently reveals a new Mac Mini!
Apple’s Mac Mini strikes the ideal balance between features and a compact design, and if a support page posted by Apple is to be believed, the Cupertino giant’s mini marvel could be in for an update. It’s long overdue, too, with the tiny computer last receiving an overhaul back in 2012! Read on for all the details!
According to 9to5Mac, Apple posted up the updated support document for Bootcamp yesterday, but it accidentally revealed more than intended, before disappearing again.
The support document was presumably tweaked to include details of Apple’s slightly updated MacBook Pro with Retina display range, but it also listed a brand new Mac Mini, stating: “Mac Mini (mid 2014)” under the list of devices. Apple usually reserves the ‘mid’ label for a product due in the late spring or in the summer, meaning we could be seeing a super-charged mini marvel before the summer’s out.
It’s been a couple of years since we’ve last seen any changes to the Mac Mini range, so a brand new model certainly wouldn’t go amiss. It’d be great to see Apple cram in the more powerful Intel Iris integrated graphics currently found on the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, for a start, offering up more gaming opportunities from the tiny computer. It would also be a great chance for Apple to introduce a new design too – we’re wondering if it could go any slimmer – but who knows what the company has hidden up its sleeve.
The document was released in time to coincide with Apple’s updated MacBook Pro with Retina display range, but quickly disappeared again afterwards. Apple’s high-end MacBook Pros are now cheaper and better equipped than ever before, with entry-level models getting double the memory, at 8GB, while the 15-inch models now come with a hefty 16GB of RAM as standard. Prices now start at £999 for the 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina, and £1,599 for the 15-inch model. You’ll save money if you opt for the range-topping 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, too, which now comes in at £1,999, and even the 13-inch non-Retina Pro gets a price cut, now costing £899. All in all, that means you can get eye-popping, razor sharp screens, with more gusto cheaper than before.
And as for the Mac Mini? Only time will tell, but watch this space, as we’ll be filling in the details as soon as we know more – it could be coming very soon.
