Microsoft Surface

Microsoft Surface: Downsized super slate on the way!
We’ve been waiting for a Microsoft Surface Mini for a little while now, but Microsoft went the opposite way when it announced its latest Surface Pro 3, which is big enough to put laptops to shame! It looks like the wait could be nearly over though, with a smaller, more portable slate hinted to be on the way.
Granted, the Surface Pro 3 is thinner and lighter than the Surface tablets that have gone before it, but its 12-inch screen puts it firmly in large tablet territory, and it’s simply a step too far for some people.
That’s where the latest Microsoft Surface model comes in. Previous rumours have hinted at an eight-inch version of the Surface, but if Digitimes is to be believed, it looks like a more compact model with a 10.6-inch screen is on the way. That’ll make the latest Surface Pro 3 the biggest of the bunch, and this new Surface a return to the previous form factor, only slimmer and more ‘mini’-like than the latest and greatest model.
The website explains that the new 10.6-inch Microsoft Surface is also lighter than what we’ve seen in the past, which should make it the Windows tablet of choice when it comes to a life on the move. It’s also expected to hit the shops in October, but there’s currently no word on pricing – we’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest as soon as we hear it.
